Hello all!
Happy New Year to you! I just wanted to share some encouragement with you. 2018 has already been so crazy for me, and I am truly anticipating what the rest of this year has in store for me.
I am waiting for my calling – what God is guiding me to do.
Like many of you, I am always so uncertain what God’s plan is for my life. I often wonder what he is calling me to do and why. I find myself asking questions like “why am I going through this season?” or “why did this have to happen?” or “what am I suppose to do?” And the truth is, I honestly may never know. But, because we serve such a wonderful God, he knows exactly what we are doing and why, and in due time he will clearly allow us to see that.
When we face these types of moments it is God telling us to have faith in him. Have faith in his character, plan and his love for us. We are called to be like Abraham in his unwavering faith in believing in God’s promises. God promises are always good, and we should have faith that his promises will come into fruition. It may not happen in your own timing and plan, but God will certainly make it happen. God loves us and only wants the best for us and his kingdom.
“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”
Romans 4:18-21 NLT
As Christians our primary purpose is to bring honor and glory to Christ through the way we live so that others may also see his glory.
Now this doesn’t mean we have to live perfect lives or follow all the rules. And I mean, let’s face it, none of us could ever fully accomplish this, even though many of us try. So instead of trying to be perfect and hide our sins, this means we admit to our messed up lives, and allow Jesus to change us so that we may look more and more like him. As Romans 4:14 says,
“If God’s promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless.”
Friends we need Jesus. We must listen and have faith that what he is calling us to do is good and will be used for his glory. All of God’s promises are yes and amen.
Be strong and keep faith.
